Chapter 2
Lord of the Flies
Ralph's Adventure
Today I enjoyed the peace and serenity of this island. Although this island is rich in pigs, fruits and water, I think it would be best if we got rescued as soon as possible. A little boy suggested that theres a beastie in the island, its supposed to look like a snake, but I don't really think there is one on this island. Our plan was to make a signal fire, so the flames and smoke would attract attention, unfortunately although we created the signal fire, it went out of control. I do wish to be rescued because its kind of dangerous to stay in the island, and I would rather be in my ow n home. We started the fire by first getting kindling and wood, and then got dry grass and leaves. It was started by Piggie's glasses. As I said before, the fire went way out of control, I'm pretty sure it even killed somebody, but I'll tell you that later. Now what happened was a little boy with a red mark on his face may have died from the flames, since we couldn't find him, we can only expect the worse. I'm different from the other boys because I don't do things with the senseless ebullience of the other children. I also have more leadership character traits, so thats why I'm the leader. Right now I'm going to bed with a martyred feeling, because I really don't know what happened to Johnny. I'm also a little troubled about the errant little boys, and I'm worried about what will become of us. I was shocked to see the capering of the boys as the fire sped out of control. I'm also scared that if Johnny dies its because of the island's recrimination upon us. Now although the future may look bleak, I'm prepared to face whatever comes next.

Blog Entry 1

Blog 1

If for some random reason I was stuck on an exotic dessert island with little hope of returning home, I would require a few essential items. It’s hard to think about what’s important and what is not, so I guess I’ll include a propane stove, what I’ll do when it run out of gas is a mystery (only somebody as smart as Max Haggard who know how to refuel it.) The use is to cook stuff. Next I’ll bring a pocketknife to hunt animals and it just might be useful. Finally I’ll bring a bucket to store water (To purify water you have to use a propane stove to heat the water and make it drinkable). At least I think I’m about five percent sure. Now for people to bring its a little obvious, any sane person would bring Kenyon Deed Reeds! In addition to being a wildlife expert, Kenyon’s large size, and incredible strength is the very key to survival. His huge bulk may scare the most hardened predator. (No offense Kenyon). Kenyon would be the best choice. Now the next person I would bring is Kotte Huffer, he knows how to make sushi and can make a spaceship to escape. Finally I would bring my dad, so I wouldn’t get beat up by Kenyon. I win, nothing could go wrong!

How does the need to belong and be accepted by others cloud our judgment and keep people from making good choices?
It clouds our good judgment because most people have an urge to stay with a group, and to be accepted by other people. Sometimes people are scared to do what they think is right, because they are scared that others would hurt them, or dislike them because of what they did. Since we want that we might do something without thinking about the consequences.
An example of this would be drugs. If some of your friends were taking drugs and they asked you to join them, your fear of not being accepted by your friends might urge you to take drugs, regardless of the consequences.
Another example of this would be the wave. In the book a lot of people joined the wave and others wanted to join partly because a lot of people were joining. The result was that the wave expanded, and spread throughout the entire school, some people only joined because their friends were joining. Others only joined because they were scared about what would happen to them if they didn't.
There are many reasons why the need might cloud good judgement. One reason is fear that people won't respect you. Another is fear that them might harm you. Some examples of this are; taking drugs, and joining an organisation, such as the wave.
